You send a personal reply in LinkedIn after a campaign starts. The conversation shows the message, but the campaign chart barely moves. Is the tool missing an action? Maybe. First ask which number you are reading. A conversation history, a count of messages sent, a count of people contacted, and an automated-step reply rate can each include a different set of events. Current help documents show that tools make different choices, so a single answer for every dashboard would mislead you.

01

A send can appear in one view and disappear from another

Reply documents both manual and automated regular messages and InMails in its LinkedIn dashboard's Messages sent total. Its connection acceptance and reply rates, however, are tracked for automated steps. The chart lets an operator separate Sent (Manual) from Sent (Auto), and its export has one row per recorded action. If you read the headline sends total as the denominator of every rate, you have silently changed the metric's scope.

Linked Helper documents the opposite boundary for its Dashboard: it counts Linked Helper actions and excludes manual interactions. Yet its messaging-history feature can capture manual messages in a conversation when a relevant scraping or messaging action runs. That history is a record of chat content, not proof that the manual send entered the Dashboard's campaign statistics. The vendor also says history is not refreshed every time you chat manually, and its CSV history export requires a PRO license.

02

Check the unit as well as the manual boundary

Dripify describes its Contacted, Replied, and Lead activity widgets as counts of unique leads. One person who receives multiple messages can still contribute once to an overall widget. Its documentation defines a qualifying contact as an outreach touch through Dripify, but does not explicitly say whether a message sent manually in LinkedIn enters each widget. Do not turn that silence into a product claim; test the exact view you plan to use.

HeyReach separates step, lead, and sender analytics. Its overview names Messages sent and Replies, but does not settle whether a native manual message appears in those campaign numbers. The useful buying question is narrower than ‘does it track LinkedIn?’: which event, sent from which interface, enters which counter, at what time?

Also fix the reporting window. Reply says its LinkedIn dashboard uses the account time zone. Linked Helper says some reply statistics update only after a relevant action executes. A chart that has not moved immediately after a manual send can reflect an exclusion rule, a delayed refresh, or simply a different period. Check those before calling it a data loss incident.

03

Reconcile three events before trusting a campaign rate

Use two consenting internal accounts and one test contact already eligible for the message type. Record the sender, contact, campaign, account time zone, and the starting values for the sends, people-contacted, and replies counters. Send one campaign step, then one manual message in the tool's inbox if it offers one. Send a third message from LinkedIn's own interface. Note the exact times and where each appears: native conversation, tool conversation, campaign step log, dashboard chart, and action export. Then have the recipient reply once and check which reply counter and rate changes after the vendor's documented sync or action runs.

For each view, write down the numerator, denominator, unit, and inclusion rule. Is ‘Messages sent’ actions, unique people, or only first messages? Does ‘Replied’ count people once or each response? Are manual sends displayed separately but excluded from a rate? If the export cannot identify the source of an action, do not combine that campaign percentage with another tool's percentage as if they measured the same cohort.

04

Keep the report's claim inside its boundary

If manual sends are missing, use the tool's campaign rate for its documented automated cohort and keep manual activity in a separate log. If a sends total includes manual work but the reply rate covers automated steps, label both scopes next to the figures. A conversation export can help investigate a particular contact; it does not repair an incompatible denominator. For rate comparisons across campaigns, use the separate benchmark guide. For whether a reply stops future steps, use the reply-stop guide.

LinkedIn says it does not allow third-party software or extensions that scrape or automate activity on its website. A reporting feature does not grant permission to automate sending or remove account restrictions. The reconciliation above can be performed with manually sent messages and approved internal accounts.
